McCain endorser Hagee: "God sent Hitler to hunt the Jews"

John Hagee is the radical Baptist pastor that has endorsed John McCain:
In his 2006 book "Jerusalem Countdown", Hagee proposed that anti-Semitism, and thus the Holocaust, was the fault of Jews themselves - the result of an age old divine curse incurred by the ancient Hebrews through worshiping idols and passed, down the ages, to all Jews now alive."

Class war

Over the last quarter century the portion of the national income accruing to the richest 1 percent of Americans has doubled. The share going to the richest one-tenth of 1 percent has tripled, and the share going to the richest one-hundredth of 1 percent has quadrupled.

In 2005, the wealthiest 1 percent of the country earned 21.2 percent of all income, according to IRS data, while the bottom 50 percent of all Americans earned just 12.8 percent of all income, down from 13.4 percent a year earlier.
Who has the Howitzers and who has the spitballs in this war? Who do you think is winning this class war?

Rush Limbaugh calls for riots during Denver's Democratic Convention

As long as he's making money for them there's noting this guy can say that will force Clear Channel to instill some class into the drug-addled, Dominican-sex-tour-trippin', thrice-married Druggie Limbaugh:

Talk show host Rush Limbaugh is sparking controversy again after he made comments calling for riots in Denver during the Democratic National Convention this summer.

He said the riots would ensure a Democrat is not elected as president, and his listeners have a responsibility to make sure it happens.

"Riots in Denver, the Democrat Convention would see to it that we don't elect Democrats," Limbaugh said during Wednesday's radio broadcast. He then went on to say that's the best thing that could happen to the country
And if you ask me, he sounds quite bitter. Must be the pills........

What does a flag lapel pin say about the wearer?

What's all this about Obama being a commie pinko because he doesn't wear an American Flag Lapel Pin?

Let's talk about some of those who do wear one:

Rush Limbaugh wears one and took a permanent Vietnam deferment by paying his doctor to keep submitting to the selective service that he had an anal cyst. Anal cysts, also known as finiculitis of the anal sphincter valve, generally heals in 5 to seven days. Rush must have had over 175 cysts in a row.

Dick Cheney wears an American Flag Pin in his lapel. Dick secured 5 educational deferments of varying reasons from the Vietnam War but the outstanding reason was, as he put it: "I have better things to do!"
George Bush has a large American Flag Pin in his lapel. George went A.W.O.L. when his turn to ship to Vietnam came up and his Dad bailed him out. This is your basic cowardice in the face of the enemy, but...well, you know.

Others who wear the flag pin but declined to serve America in her armed forces were:

Fox news Anchor Britt Hume...Not even the boy scouts.
Fox News commentator Fred Barnes. No service.
Geraldo Rivera: Did not serve.
Bill O'Reilly: Did not serve.
Sean Hannity: Did not serve.
Michael Savage: Did not serve.
Newt Gingrich: Two deferments.
Tom DeLay, 3 deferments.
Rep. Henry Hyde (R) Ill. Declined to serve.
Rep. James Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.) Decided not to join.
Rep. Bill McCollum (R-Fla) Did not serve.
Rep. George Gekas (R-Pa) Claimed financial deferment for his mother's sake.
Rep. Charles Canady (R-Fa) Two deferments.
Rep. Bob Barr (R-Ga) declined to serve
Rep. Asa Hutchinson (R-Ar) Did not serve.
White House Counsel Karl Rove. (R) Did not Serve
Dan Burton Rep. (R) In. Great at shooting watermelons, failed to join the armed forces.
Former Asst. Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz No service.

No White House Counsels have military experience.

This list is endless.

In additon of the 535 members of Congress who wear flag lapel pins, only five have children serving in active military positions and only one has been deployed to Iraq.

These are just a few of the war mongers who proudly display the flag but piss on it every day.

Wearing the pin doesn't make you patriotic. Not wearing it doesn't make you un-patriotic.

And if there is a law requiring you to place your hand over your heart during the pledge of allegiance or national anthem please forward it to me.
And oh, by the way, neither John McCain nor George Stephanopolous wore a flag pin today. on ABC's This Week news program.

Liberals can shoot, too!

Shooting Liberally is a regular event around the country:
Drinking Liberally Shot of Truth

A month ago, we told you about the inaugural meeting of Shooting Liberally which would be coming up later that day. Well, the second meeting of Shooting liberally NYC is coming up (next Tuesday, in fact), and we wanted to report back to you on the first Shooting Liberally in the Empire State - what happens when a group of Manhattanite liberals bond over progressive politics and shooting ranges?

One novice, Tim, summed it up this way:
A good time was had by all. Especially, it seems, by the ladies.

Which hints at an important aspect of the chapter - of the sixteen spaces we reserved at the range, a healthy majority were taken up by women. When Shooting Liberally was not busy shooting down bullseyed targets, they took turns shooting down gender stereotypes.

Liberals can aim. Liberals can shoot. Liberals and Sportsmen are one and the same. Our side's leaders need to figure out how to reconcile our differences.

"Skanky bitch-whore Ann Coulter"

Hey, I just report what Rolling Stone reports, then you decide:
From the battering that McCain is taking lately from the likes of Limbaugh and skanky bitch-whore Ann Coulter, who vowed to campaign for Hillary if McCain gets the nomination, one wouldn't know that most of his supposed crimes were actually based on conservative principles.
And this is why Ann deserves every insult known to man, beast, and combination thereof....

Mike Huckabee (R) says "eggs are Americans, too"

Wendy at Colorado Confidential has an excellent analysis:
GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee endorsed Colorado's "egg as a person" state ballot measure on Monday, but for whose benefit -- Zygote Americans or his own dwindling political fortunes? Huckabee made the announcement after spending time in Colorado Springs last weekend wooing religious conservative voters between a paid speaking gig at a Leadership Program of the Rockies event and a private chat with his old buddy, Rev. James Dobson, head of Focus on the Family.

While Huckabee's endorsement is being ballyhooed in the press as a boon to the ballot measure, the Baptist minister and former Arkansas governor has a long record of attempting to not just ban abortion but also contraception. Likewise, Arkansas has one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the nation and there is a staggering need for contraceptive services in a state where nearly half the women have no access to publicly funded family planning programs, as noted by the Guttmacher Institute. His support of Colorado's proposed Amendment 36 is hardly a revelation to anybody paying attention.

Go read the rest. And then contemplate a KHOW host who's a lawyer who says "humans don't have eggs."

They are just flailing in public, now.

SquarePants Dobson gets whatfor from Gazette readers

Little Jimmy Dobson doesn't like John McCain. He has once again injeted his non-prophet into politics and said he'll never vote for Old Man McCain. Letter writers to the Gazette differ with Dobson:
WHO CARES?
Dobson comment an attempt to influence voters

In light of the ongoing investigations into religious leaders’ attempts to influence political events while enjoying a taxexempt status, I must say I am extremely disappointed with the Gazette’s decision to run the story, “Dobson won’t vote for McCain” in Wednesday’s paper. I see it as a blatant attempt to influence the votes of those who are unable or unwilling to come to their own decision on political matters.

The article even goes so far as to share his personal opinion that the candidates are the worst ever in his lifetime; he must have forgotten about the current president who has lied to us, created the mess in Iraq, given this country’s ideals a black eye by promoting torture while doing his best to subvert the First Amendment.

I hope Gazette readers are smart enough to see through his agenda; if not, I hope they will understand that, almost without exception, there is no candidate out there who could conceivably do worse than the current president. That, and that Dobson’s attempt to peddle political influence without jeopardizing his tax-exempt status has not gone unnoticed.

McCain more conservative than Democratic candidates

So, James Dobson of Focus on the Family won’t vote for John McCain. Instead, by not supporting McCain, should he become the nomine, by default Dobson is throwing his support behind Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama.

Who does Dobson think will best forward the conservative agenda out of this group? McCain may not be the most conservative, but he will be the most conservative choice come November.

The “I’ll take my ball and go home” attitude Dobson and others like him have when they don’t get their way does nothing to help, it just shows they are an embarrassment to our party.

Jim Balcerovich
Colorado Springs

Current president no great conservative

Who died and made James Dobson God? Why does someone who represents a nonprofit religious-based organization think he needs to be so blatantly verbal regarding politics? Besides that, who cares what he thinks?
Dobson supported George W. Bush; look at his approval rating now.

I’m not a McCain supporter but believe he would do a lot better job then our current president. At least he could not do worse.

Bernice Porter
Colorado Springs
I just hope the continuing conserva-bot crackup continues, cuz I'm not so sure Dems will unite and conquer, even after the last 8 years of abject failure of Republican/Conservative ideas.

After shooting, New Life turns on one of its own

After the shootings at New Life Church last week, one of its parishioners had emotional trouble and had words with church officials. Rather than show him some good Christian love and understanding, they cast him to the wind:
Larry Bourbonnais, 59, left church grounds peacefully at the request of church officials, who called in Colorado Springs police for extra support.

“He cooperated, and we told him that he wasn’t welcome back on the property,” police Sgt. Lonnie Spanswick said.

Church officials told police they plan to file a restraining order against Bourbonnais, Spanswick said.
It seems he may have wanted a more aggressive SWAT-team type response to the situation that fateful day. That right there tells us something important. And here's what some with more compassion than Pastor Boyd and New Life's governors think about this decision to remove Bourbonnais from the church:
Does Bourbonnais deserve more compassion?

This letter is in regard to the story “An emotional return” in the Dec. 17 Gazette. How unfortunate that one of the victims of the New Life Church shooting was escorted out of the church and told never to return after some “disturbance.” This raises many questions about the handling of this situation.

It would be very normal for someone who had suffered, as well as been shot and also tried to help save lives, to be emotionally upset, perhaps traumatized. Instead, Pastor Boyd said that he had been wrong in trying to save lives — and blamed the victim. Yet, this is who Jesus came to save — the wounded, broken-bodied and brokenhearted, the confused. On Wednesday night, when I attended the service, Boyd said there were psychologists and counselors standing by. Where were those counselors to help Larry Bourbonnais? Where were the people who knew him, from his spiritual community, to kindly take him aside and listen to his concerns? Where was compassion and outreach?

Does this imply that no minister from that church visited him immediately after the incident, to know that he was all right, physically and emotionally? How sad that a church would expel someone, just when he would have need of a spiritual community to help him through this incident. Perhaps Boyd is trying to get over this much too quickly.

Jesus created many disturbances and disruptions and challenges. Perhaps New Life Church needs to be better at listening, healing and bringing understanding and grace into the emotional upsets that are a natural part of this healing process. This is no time to toss someone out of the spiritual community — particularly someone who is clearly hurting and who heroically tried to save lives.

Linda Seger, Th.D.
Cascade

Parishioner deserves counseling, not rejection

I am appalled that New Life Church would turn Larry Bourbonnais away one week after he was a victim of the shootings at New Life. Is it because he criticized one of the security guards? Is it because he was vocal with the newspapers and reporters?

What kind of a Christian church is New Life? If the man is volatile, why doesn’t the church try to counsel him and help him through his traumatic experience? No, instead the church decides to seek a restraining order and ban him from the property.

In Monday’s Gazette there is a comment attributed to Pastor Brady Boyd that he told parishioners to be honest with their feelings. Why can’t Bourbonnais be honest with his feelings? Does the church see any similarities here between what happened to Bourbonnais and what happened to Matthew Murray? Murray was also turned away by so-called Christians. I’m glad I can see New Life’s true colors now.

Colorado Springs
And some anonymous commenters around here had the nerve to question my criticism of those who claim one thing and do the exact opposite in the name of the Lord.
