Doug Lam-pork spending taxpayers' money like there's no tomorrow
Usually I would say lamb and pork don't go together, but with Doug Lamborn spending mailer money like
Rep. Doug Lamborn sent $135,607 worth of taxpayer-funded mail last year, the highest total of Colorado's congressional delegation and almost double that of the second-place spender.
Lamborn's Republican primary opponent Jeff Crank has attacked the first-term congressman's spending.
"If Doug Lamborn was a fiscal conservative, it didn't take him long to learn the ways of big-spending Washington politicians," Crank said.
He suggested Lamborn is using the free mail privilege to "(prop) up his faltering campaign."
Lamborn, R-Colorado Springs, said it's "vital" for constituents to know what their representatives are doing.
"Most people that I've talked with appreciate my mail and telephone outreach," he said.
Asked about Crank's comments, Lamborn said, "I'd rather not go there."
Members of Congress are allowed to send mail without postage. The privilege, called franking, dates to 1775.
Yeah, I knew Doug would like franking, it took him about 15 months to figure out email. And in all reality there probably is no tomorrow for Doug Lamborn in Congress. He's on defense from the right and left. And once again, Colorado Springs voters will prove to be the most dense and ideological in the state. Unable to pick a quality candidate or issue when it's right in front of their faces.
