Senator Andy McElhany (R-Colo. Springs) to Ritter: Don't fix our roads

I guess 1 failed and 2 under construction bridges in Colorado Springs weren't enough to focus Andy McElhany's mind on Colorado's continuing infrastructure problem:

Officially, the governor would only confirm he was "involved in conversations" on the subject. Senate Minority Leader Andy McElhany of Colorado Springs was less reticent, telling The Post that Republicans were "flabbergasted" that Ritter would consider providing any new revenue for our crumbling highway network.

We'd urge the governor not to take McElhany's rhetoric too seriously. In our experience, Andy's flabber always gets gasted when the state's chief executive tries to solve any of Colorado's pressing fiscal problems. A flabbergasted McElhany even fought the bipartisan Referendum C economic recovery plan partially crafted by former Republican Gov. Bill Owens, but voters approved it anyway.

Hey Andy: You can't spend your tax cuts if there are no roads to get anywhere!
