Obama event in the Springs
I don't think he'll be at this, but he is in Denver today.
The Colorado Springs Black/Latino Coaliition is co-hosting a Barack Obama event this Friday, Feb. 1, 6:30PM, at La Carreta Restaurant, 35 N. Iowa, next door to Uwe's German Restaurant. Everyone is cordially invited. You don't have to be Black or Latino to come and join the fun.
There will be free food and drink.
This does not mean that the Coalition is endorsing Obama. But we are responding to a request from the Obama campaign to co-host this event in order to inform Blacksand Latinos about Obama.
We also would like to co-host events for John McCain, Hillary Clinton, and other Republican and Democratic candidates. We invite all candidates, for whatever office, and your supporters, to contact us if you want Black/Latino Coalition members to join you at your campaign events. We are an informal non-partisan leadership organization and wish only to educate our communities about the candidates and the issues. One thing that we do is publicize events and invite the hundreds of people on our email lists to attend. Campaign events are a chance to hear candidates and speakers, to become educated about issues and where candidates stand on them.
As a group, the Black/Latino Coaliiton will not endorse any candidates, but of course everyone is free to support any candidate individually.
Hope to see you on Friday, Feb. 1, 6:30PM, at La Carreta.
Joe Barrera, Co-Chair, Black/Latino Coalition
