The neighbor-to-neighbor spying that Qwest refused to implement
The complete trashing of our Constitutional rights as described in this NY Times article would make Osama smile:
Executives at a Denver phone carrier, Qwest, refused in early 2001 to give the agency access to their most localized communications switches, which primarily carry domestic calls, according to people aware of the request, which has not been previously reported. They say the arrangement could have permitted neighborhood-by-neighborhood surveillance of phone traffic without a court order, which alarmed them.Who's winning the battle now? Who's willing to give up every right for a patina of safety? Who will call for the hanging of these NY Times reporters and excuse a President who has trampled our laws and rights?
