Doug Lamborn: Far worse than I thought
OK, we're getting into call-the-community-mental-health-center-for-an-appointment territory now:
It is unclear exactly what motivated Congressman Doug Lamborn to unleash an attack on a Colorado Springs couple who criticized his vote against stiffening penalties for dogfighting and for accepting campaign contributions from gambling interests. It is unclear why anyone would vote against dog-fighting. Gambling is another issue, but Doug can't seem to get his issues straight. We tried to warn voters here that their priorities were wrong and their personnel were questionable. They put Doug in office, and now - once again - Colorado Springs is paying for the ignorance of its leaders.Federal Election Commission records show that Lamborn, a Colorado Springs Republican, has indeed accepted contributions from gaming interests. The records further indicate that they have not been returned.
Yet in a strongly-worded letter, Lamborn is demanding that the chairman of the El Paso County Republican Party launch an investigation. Jon Hotaling, Lamborn's campaign manager, did not return a phone call seeking clarity.

If we're charitable, we might assume Lamborn felt that the federal government should not legislate something that the states should have already dealt with. I honestly haven't checked to see if dog fights are covered under most states' laws. I can't imagine the gaming lobby even cares about dog fighting, cock fighting, or even hamster fighting. I do wonder what Lamborn was thinking, and I think it arrogant of him to believe that the people he represents have no right to an explanation from him.
Maybe he mis-read the bill and thought it said "Doug-fighting".
