YearlyKos: The sweet smell of success

Markos gets to the bottom line:
“Respectable” people couldn’t stop praising President Bush for being “bold” and “resolute”. They fueled what has now become the biggest foreign policy debacle in American history. They told us to capitulate to Republicans on Iraq in 2002 and 2004. Democrats listened - and lost.

They said us crazy bloggers were pushing the party to the left, and that our increasing influence would doom Democrats to electoral defeat in 2006 and beyond. David Brooks in The NY Times wrote in 2005 that thanks to bloggers – those rabid flying venomous sheep - Democrats would be sure to carry just Berkeley for decades to come. Many Democrats nodded along in agreement.

Did we listen? No.

In 2006, those respectable people said Democrats couldn’t win unless they continued cheerleading that war. Did we listen? No. We weren’t that stupid.

The respectable people said that electing Howard Dean chair of the Democratic Party would doom us to perpetual minority status. Did we listen? No.

They said that we had to privatize social security. Did we listen? No.

They told us we should fear “San Francisco Liberal” Nancy Pelosi. Did we listen? No.

They said there was nothing nefarious about the outing of Valerie Plame. Did we listen? No.

They said targeting Joe Lieberman would cost us the Senate. Did we listen? No.

No we didn’t listen. Of course not.

And then in 2006, we won.

Got watch the video if you can. It'll make your day week month.

Ummm, it sounds to me as if we "won" nothing this past week.

Especially with the fiasco of FISA. The obvious example being Jim Webb's blatant disrespect for the 4th Amendment. Pelosi's involvement with FISA and the House, just shows us that she doesn't a rat's ass about the Netroots or Americans.

We have been dismissed by the very Democrats we supported (as for the Salazars - we all expected their bluedog actions).

Also having Matt Bai host the candidates panel at YearlyKos?? WTF?

And no panel at all on impeachment? Does that make sense to you?

I think we need to smell the sweet smell of being duped. By the Democrats that we have rallied around on Kos. And by Kos for getting in bed with MSM, and refusing to see that the fight is not against just Repubs - but ALL the corrupt politians...even, gasp, the Dems we supported.

Its time realize that the Dems in national office are not on the Netroots side.

Its depressing, but unfortunately reality. We haven't won anything.

Just out of curiosity, have you bothered to look at the astonishingly poor approval ratings, BELOW Mr. Bush's, for this democrat-led Congress? You so sure that is success you're smelling? Smells a lot like bull manure to me...
