CO-05: Crank is in, Doug is history, Fawcett still in the wings

Jeff Crank will try to make Joel Hefley's retirement happy - once again:
Jeff Crank filed paperwork today with the Federal Election Commission to begin the process of organizing a campaign for Congress in Colorado’s 5th Congressional District. Crank, a 2006 candidate in the Republican Primary and Vice President of Government Sales with Xaware in Colorado Springs, will make a formal announcement in the near future. For more information, contact Jeff Crank at 719.xxx.xxxx.
I've never seen so many Republicans so happy that Lamborn will (surely) be primaried out in 2008. It looks like they'll also be happy to still have the second best guy representing the Springs in Washington, DC.

Has Fawcett even filed paperwork to run? Since he got his ass beat by Lamborn, I don't know if he's even going to bother to try.......

Hopefully Lamborn will once again sqeak through an ugly primary, and continue to piss off Goldwater conservatives and (R) moderates. A lot of conservatives I know can't stand Lamborn (no surprise there) and could abstain from voting on that race in protest. That will leave the door open for Fawcett. If Crank wins the primary, he might be there a long time...

Jay is working on his public service project: Western Strategies. He hopes to build a reputation as someone who can work with both sides of the aisle and make real progress on real problems facing Coloradans.

I urge everyone to check it out.

Too bad Fawcett can't do anything more than provide lip service and posturing......
