Laugh Time

Just so we don't run down the street screaming our heads off, time for a laugh from Buzzflash:

You Know You Are Still a Republican If ...

You are more upset about Brokeback Mountain than Abu Ghraib.

You can’t stand Hilary Clinton’s hair but you have no problem with Tom DeLay’s.

You think Global Warming is no big deal but environmentalists are a major problem.

You support the "war on drugs" but think Rush Limbaugh is being prosecuted unfairly.

You think professional athletes make too much money but Sam Walton’s kids deserve everything they have.

You like the way George Bush walks.

You think Al Gore is "wooden" and Donald Rumsfeld has charisma.

You think CNN is biased but Fox News is neutral.

You like the sound of Newt Gingrich’s voice.

You are sure the United States has the best education and health care systems in the world.

You think Dick Cheney is a straight shooter.

You think Michael Chertoff’s beard makes him look distinguished.

You think the problem with our health care system is lawyers.

You think it was more important to locate Monica Lewinsky’s blue dress than to locate weapons of mass destruction.

You don’t believe "terrorism" has made Rudy Giuliani an incredibly rich man.

You believe freedom of speech covers everything Pat Robertson says and does, but burning a flag should be illegal.

You can be in the same room with Brit Hume.

You have yourself convinced that the country and world are better off now than 5 years ago.

OK, well maybe it's not that funny - Z

"This deal wouldn't go forward if we were concerned about the security for the United States of America." - George W. Bush, commenting on the secret deal to hand port operations over to Dubai Ports World, a company owned by the state of Dubai, which has had proven ties to al Qaeda and the Taliban.

And whose executives have been hired to run our nation's Port agency.

And to whom members of the Bush Administration - John Snow - still have financial ties.

Honesty and integrity? Adults in charge? Security is our highest motive? Rule of law?

Only to a rabid republican can this President be true to such statements.

"No one could have imagined...."

That's what they'll say when one of our ports is hit by terrorists - "no one could have imagined" that they would.

They said it after the 9/11 attacks. Of course people had imagined it, and had warned our government. They said it after Katrina hit New Orleans; the levies didn't dodge any bullets. And they said it when HAMAS won victory in the Palestinian elections last month. It was just one more Bush Administration lie.

Now we know the President didn't know about the deal to hand port operations over to a company owned by an Arab state that has ties to terrorism. The UAE is like Saudi Arabia: run by a hereditary oligarchy made up of a family that has many members - some good, some evil - with very little control over their peers.

And when they lie that no one could have imagined, there will be plenty of proof that the signs were there and the outcry was real. And the blame will fall squarely on George W. Bush.
