Random Thoughts and Bon Mots
- I think I stole that title from somewhere. Hey, you get what you pay for.
- Why does every Bush Adminsitration failure follow the same M.O.?
- Evade, spin, and Cover-up
- When it's too late Show-up
- Finally, promise to cooperate and then Clam-up
- Why does Michael Chertoff have to swear an oath when he testifies, but Alberto Gonzales and George Bush and Dick Cheney and Condi Rice do not? The answer is probably as obvious as it is cynical.
- It's also become obvious to me why George Bush doesn't hold anyone in his administration accountable: Everyone he hires is the "best person for the job" and "has all my confidence" and will "do a great job for the American people." When they screw up, they not only fail the American people, they shine a spotlight on George Bush's inability to staff his government and as a judge of people.
- If the press was really unbiased and doing their jobs, there would be a spotlight shone on George Bush's failures. I guess we'll have to wait.
- And wait.
- And wait..........
- IOKIYAR - It's OK If You're A Republican. Laws are for the little people and Democrats. Republicans get a pass, even on voter fraud. But God, please make this Republican felon go away and I'll give money to Pat Roberson, I promise, even James Dobson if you want.
- There is no way in hell that Cheney just peppered this guy and put him in intensive care from 30 yards away. It was cold, they were wearing cold and hunting gear, and birdshot at that distance is very weak. I think it was gun mishandling, no game in sight, and the 18-hours was needed to try to save Cheney's skin.
- Why are Republicans, who bash our brains out over principles every 2 to 4 years, never willing to actually stand up for one of them principle things? You know who you are.
- (stolen) If Cheney won't even appear publicly to explain to the press wth happened on that "hunt" to his "good friend" - then how is it possible he feels any sympathy for anyone? ANYONE?
- If President Bush was such a good manager, why hasn't he forced Cheney to fulfill his duties as our employee and an elected officer of the government?
- To answer my own question: Cheney doesn't give a flying rat's patoutie: he assigned himself the job, he was elected individually (per the law) and seperately from Bush, and Bush is too chicken to rein him in. (Wow, how about a George Bush/John Edwards executive to unite the country and involve both sides. Oh wait, Bush lied about that too.)
- I love the fact that Keith Olbermann is giving a running count on "Days since the President declared 'Mission Accomplished'". I'm sure Keith is taking some heat. I'm also sure Keith is a helluva lot tougher than the executives above him. Watch Keith at 6PM here on Adelphia channel 37.
- An finally, why doesn't Blogger have a decent spell-check function?

Officially, "It wasn't until 14 hours after the shooting that Cheney spoke with local police about the incident." -- 14 hours is enough time to get your blood alcohol to reasonable levels. You know, however, that Mr. Whittington will certainly shut up about this, assuming no other complications cause him serious trouble - and probably even if they do. This does stink of coverup, and yet it's a *personal* coverup -- the shooting was among friends, and we are all just going to have to accept that if they are willing to cover for one another, the outsiders present (Secret Service, medical team) are certainly not going to break ranks over it. Leahy's remark about having "gotten off easy" with the just F word was pretty amusing, though.
