To the Esteemed Senator Salazar
Senator Salazar,
These are truly the "extraordinary circumstances" that the Gang of 14 defined in your noble attempt to broker peace between the reasonable Democrats and the reckless Republicans in the US Senate. But as we have seen so well over the last few years - the Republican leadership has no desire whatsoever to tread the middle ground in the political landscape of our nation. They want victory at all costs. They will lie to and slander their opponents. They will abuse the power of their offices. And they will break whatever laws they deem impertinant to their quest.
I hope with all my being that you see that we have reached the definition of the key phrase of your agreement. If you cannot see the obvious, then I feel the voters of Colorado have truly failed by voting you into office.
I have disagreed with some of his decisions have been suspect leading up to this point. But this decision will be the defining moment of his term. This is a gamble Democrats, and all citizens for that matter, cannot take with our rights.
The checks and balances that the founding fathers engineered into the Constitution were a sign of their unbounded genius.
The Republicans have abandoned that principle.
Democrats must stand dedicated to that principle now and forever. A filibuster of Judge Alito will show that dedication to our democracy.
I urge you to filibuster this nomination, and force the President to submit a more reasonable and fair judge to our highest court in the land.
Signed,

Well said!
I have had no fewer than five emails today from various Democrats telling me why they oppose Alito- every single one of them then went on to ask for a contribution. Not one mentioned the possibility of a filibuster.
The use of the filibuster has been used to thwart the tyranny of the majority, sometimes for a good cause, sometimes for a bad one.
In this case, as in several others, our senators have shown their true souls.
They are moral cowards and blowhards.
Perhaps our Party's goal should not be to elect Democrats, rather to elect individuals of courage, justice, and compassion.
