Ho Hum

DIWANIYAH, Iraq - The top U.S. general in Iraq acknowledged Thursday that

American forces in this country are "stretched"
But for the Republicans this is only a political issue. There is no reason to worry, no reason to act rash. No reason to try to improve the status or mission of our troops, no reason to get them out.

Everything is political. This is what Rove deemed would be the driving force in President Bush's presidency: everything is gamed for the political benefit -- the actual results and real-wrold effects are meaningless. This wins elections, but it ***ks up the country.

Would that our Republican friends could see this without their rose-colored glasses.
