OMG: No White House Christmas Card for Him

Oh man, this is brutal. Ambrose Bierce would be proud. Mark Twain would spit his soup. Garrison Keillor is smiling, way deep down, that big gregarious smile.

Meanwhile, Tom DeLay is figuring out how to outlaw Time/Warner and tax all their profits, burn all their movies, rescind the first amendment.

Bill Maher rips the holy hell out of George Bush. Go see it now!

FEMA

Federal Excuse Making Agency - that's what is seems to stand for now.

The agency worked wonderfully for Americans when it was run by the Democrats, it saved lives and helped protect against disasters. That's two things! And it was Bill Clinton and James Lee Witt who ran the joint, in case anyone more Republicans forget.

Yes, that's the same James Lee Witt whom Al Gore did or did not meet with in Texas. This was actually an issue George Bush brought up to show his competence in dealing with disasters, and his peldge to put the "adults" back in charge, bring "honor and integrity" back to the White House, and restore a sense of personal responsibility to America. Oh, and handle natural disasters competently. (Thanks to Atrios.)

But I guess those things don't matter too much when you're poll numbers are tanking.

Instead of dodging responsibility and filling his boss' mouth and brain with sound bites, Karl Rove should use some of his clout and position as Senior Advisor to create some policies that solve actual problems.

Bubblicious

Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said Bush's choice for head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency had "absolutely no credentials."

She related that she had urged Bush at the White House on Tuesday to fire Michael Brown.

"He said 'Why would I do that?'" Pelosi said.

"'I said because of all that went wrong, of all that didn't go right last week.' And he said 'What didn't go right?'"

"Oblivious, in denial, dangerous," she added.

Somehow I am reminded of this.

More Blame

MoDo says it on the pages of the New York Times:

"Let's play the blame game: the man who benefited more than anyone in history from safety nets set up by family did not bother to provide one for those who lost their families."

No wonder they pulled her press pass. No one is allowed to criticize Dear Leader™.

Real Blame

Real blame, stolen from Sivacracy via Altercation.........

Bush is responsible for nothing..........and here I thought he wanted the job. Or maybe it was just to show daddy he's worth something.

Bush Blames the Bureaucracy

Rove is earning his money now, he really did deserve that raise at the start of the year.

With the federal prosecutor now at the stage of deciding which crime to charge him with for leaking the name of a CIA agent, Rove still has the wherewithal to instruct Bush to blame the bureaucracy for the failures of his administration. President Bush did it just now on NPR's top-of-the-hour news.

(I ain't gonna link it, it'll be on every newscast within minutes.) OK, well, here's the link. So stupid I couldn't resist -- Z.

But wait, I thought Bush was a Harvard MBA, a firm and resolute leader, a man who's had 4 years to the day to clean up the bureaucracy, a man who developed the Department of Homeland Security (after he was against it).

That's the spin, anyway. In reality, he's done none of it. Nothing. The death toll will tell the truth, no amount of spin can hide it. Let them spin it, that's all they have. This was 9/11 II -- and FEMA failed, DHS failed, Chertoff failed, Brown failed, Cheney failed, President Bush failed.

At long last, I hope the American people are finally paying attention. What will it take to have the truth sink in?

Vacation Spin

BUSH STAYED ON VACATION DURING THE WORST NATURAL DISASTER IN OUR COUNTRY'S HISTORY.

CHENEY STAYED ON VACATION DURING THE WORST NATURAL DISASTER IN OUR COUNTRY'S HISTORY.

RICE WENT ON VACATION DURING THE WORST NATURAL DISASTER IN OUR COUNTRY'S HISTORY.

And one more thing: why does a President, in the midst of war - with Category 5 hurricanes bearing down on our nation's largest port - need a vacation at all?

This is a guy who will never have to work another day in his life. Three short years (not for me) and he'll be free, ready for history's judgement. Until then he should be busting his back to fix the problems that hit us on his watch.

This is not being resolute, this is not decisive; this is detached, incompetent, and borders on the sociopathic. And Rove is spinning like a black widow, the American Citizenry, with the aid and comfort of the media, his doomed mate.
