A Despicable Betrayal Committed by George W. Bush
I couldn't even read the whole thing -- too sad, too predictable.
This is truly where the divide exists between the moral and conscientious Americans that are complaining about this horrible mistake George Bush has made - among his thousands - and those, including he himself, who can admit no wrong, allow no dissent, dismiss any and all criticisms. The divide was caused by blind allegiance to a failure as a human. They caused it. They will never breach it. They will never rectify what they guaranteed would occur.
They will have to live with themselves, but I don't think they will ever realize the full extent of the moral vacuum they created. Nor admit their failure. Only history will tell the full story, and then it may be too late.
It is those who questioned the war, who said "don't do it", who invoked the Pottery Barn rule, who will be cleaning this disgusting mess up for years to come -- if it can ever be cleaned up.
And yet we will still be blamed for the incompetence that killed our soldiers, for the desicsions that broke our Army, for the conditions that turned military service into a risk too great.
Republicans do one thing very well, and only one thing: blame everyone else for their failures.
George W. Bush has VACATED our moral clarity.
George W. Bush has DECIMATED our military.
George W. Bush has FAILED our best and brightest in public service.
George W. Bush has COMPROMISED each and every one of our high-minded principles.
And George W. Bush has LIED about it each and every step of the way.
9/11 didn't change everything, it didn't change all that much actually. But when someone says "the rules have changed" and they are in charge of the rules - watch your wallet.
"I came to serve honorably and feel dishonored. Death before being dishonored any more."
-- From a note found near Ted Westhusing’s body
"He could not shift his mind-set from the military notion of completing a mission irrespective of cost, nor could he change his belief that doing the right thing because it was the right thing to do should be the sole motivator for businesses." -- Lt. Col. Lisa Breitenbach, psychologist who reviewed Westhusing's e-mails and interviewed his colleagues
Which one of those persons would you want working for you, representing us around the world? The good one killed himself, the snake lives on, will be promoted, will be praised to high Heaven by Donald Rumsfeld. That is the choice George W. Bush made. That is the betrayel of our highest ideals and our best and brightest.
