If you provide child care for all American babies, the crime rate will go down
If you provide safe food for all American babies, the corporate crime rate will have to go down
If you provide safe medicine for all American babies, the corporate crime rate will have to go down
If you provide safe water for all American babies, the corporate crime rate will have to go down
If you provide safe air for all American babies, the corporate crime rate will have to go down
Thank you, Bill Bennett, for highlighting the priorities of the Republicans: not one of those goals are worthy of their tax cuts being cut.

IF you provide a good education in a safe and nurturing environment to all American children, they will have many more opportunities to succceed without turning to crime; the crime rate will go down.
IF you provide decent working conditions, health care and a living wage to their parents, the crime rate will go down.
IF you publicly tell hypocrites like Bill Bennett that a sense of entitlement starts with thinking you are somehow superior to most of the rest of humanity, and ignoring your own shortcomings in your efforts to tell your fellows that whatever those "others" are doing is not enough, then the sense of systemic injury and injustice that so many kids grow up with will be eased, even eventually banished, and the sense of belonging ("ownership," but real, rather than code for "tough nuggies, you're on your own, kid") in a common enterprise will rise to take its place, and the crime rate will go down.
