FEMA
FEMA, who knows what is means anymore. Here is a just a small sampling of the utterly moronic choices made by FEMA during the last two weeks, courtesy of DUer peabody71:
FEMA won't accept Amtrak's help in evacuations
FEMA turns away experienced firefighters
FEMA turns back Wal-Mart supply trucks
FEMA prevents Coast Guard from delivering diesel fuel
FEMA won't let Red Cross deliver food
FEMA bars morticians from entering New Orleans
FEMA blocks 500-boat citizen flotilla from delivering aid
FEMA fails to utilize Navy ship with 600-bed hospital on board
FEMA to Chicago: Send just one truck
FEMA turns away generators
FEMA: "First Responders Urged Not To Respond"
(That last one is a direct quote from the FEMA website.)

There is a similar list with some non-functional links (yours are better - the NYT links work!) at Information Clearing House. The ICH site generally is kind of a hodgepodge - all sorts of interesting stuff but a lot of crud, too. I checked these out yesterday, and aside from the broken ones I had to track down, they checked out.
Add to that FEMA-related list a really nasty news item from today, the managed health care firm Tenet Healthcare seems to have 45 dead bodies in one of its New Orleans clinics, possibly due to an evacuation oversight - many people were evac'd from the facility but these were not. A Tenet spokesman suggested that these had expired of natural causes or wandered onto the property seeking shelter. Try Googling "Tenet Healthcare" and "negligence" for an eyeful on Tenet. Actually, news sources will tell you a lot - but the first-hit disgruntled site has most of it in one location.
