Dr. James Dobson was on CNN to react to the events surrounding Terri Schiavo's death - the far right lost this battle to stomp on our family rights, but it sounds like they're moving on to an all out attack on the judiciary. And Dobson, like many on the right, won't let any inconvenient facts get in the way of his quest to have this nation turned into a Theocratic Oligarchy.
Dobson on the courts: "They're totally out of control."
They won't even let us execute teenagers! Dobsie: "With regard to executing minors. Seventy percent of the people disagree with that. ** " Yet a CNN poll (the same CNN that gives Dobson so much air time) found that "69 percent of Americans oppose executing juveniles." Funny how those numbers got completely reversed - I hate it when that happens. Of course, Wolf Blitzer completely ignored that little mistake.
What to do? SpongeDob: "They could take away the franchise, if you will, for, say, the 9th Circuit out in California." Yeah, those evil liberal judges in California, that review cases for the largest portion of the United States, let's just remove their jurisdiction. That'll show them some respect for the Constitutional principles of seperation of powers and judicial review.
And who's fault was this horrible situation? "I am angry at Judge Greer and the federal courts that did not accept ** the demand or the order ** that came down from the Congress that this case be reviewed."
Jeez, can we just get this guy to concentrate on SpongeBob again? And maybe telling the truth.
** - yet another Dobson lie.

It is humorous/depressing to watch some of the conservative Christians attacking all the judges because they disagree. Take the social conservative, Republican federal appeals judge who in deciding not to do anything with this case criticized the President and Congress for their overstepping. One rightwing Christian I was talking to was livid saying he was out of line commenting on the legislature and executive. After three or four people reminded him that, actually, that is the job of the judiciary, he quieted up.
That is the thing though, because the judiciary is the only branch that hasn't given into theocracy at this point, it is a branch that must be ridiculed and diminished until they can have their way. As the rule of law goes, so goes democracy.
Dr. Dobson has been engaging in a lot of very overt political activity, not simply the non-overt stuff like that private chat with President Bush at the Air Force Academy just before the graduation ceremony - and his organization should lose their tax-exempt status a lot faster than these people: from The Miami Herald, 21 March 2005 ...
"A Liberty City church's tax-exempt status is in jeopardy as the IRS has launched a probe into a visit by former candidate John Kerry last fall. Some wonder if the probe is politically motivated.

The IRS has notified a Liberty City church that it is under investigation for possibly engaging in political activity -- putting its tax-exempt status into question.
The probe is related to an appearance last October by Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry and several black leaders, including U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek of Miami, the Rev. Al Sharpton and the Rev. Jesse Jackson.
The reason for the investigation, an IRS official wrote in a 10-page letter obtained by The Herald, is that ``a reasonable belief exists that Friendship Missionary Baptist Church has engaged in political activities that could jeopardize its tax-exempt status as a church.''
Rev. Gaston Smith took a break from the revelry and worship of Palm Sunday services to inform the congregation about the inquiry. He said visits by political candidates are nothing new, and that the 75-year-old church did not violate U.S. tax code, as suggested in the letter. He has hired former U.S. Attorney Guy Lewis to defend the church in the inquiry.
''This is not about politics. It's about principles,'' Smith said. Silence fell over the congregation as he spoke.
The inquiry raises serious questions about whether the predominantly black church can keep its tax-exempt status. If it fails, members and contributors could not deduct tithes and other gifts, upon which churches heavily rely to operate.
Both men predicted Friendship, 740 NW 58th St., would prevail.
Addressing the congregation, Lewis said that after being contacted by Smith, it took him ''about a second'' to take the case. He said he took the case pro bono.
''It is important that the church be able to remain a tax-exempt organization,'' Lewis said. ``I have faith in our government. I have faith in the IRS as well.''
Federal tax law prohibits churches from participating in political campaigns. Beyond the legal questions, the inquiry is likely to energize the debate raised last fall about the role of churches during national elections. Watchdog groups complained to the IRS shortly after Kerry's visit to Friendship, saying that it amounted to a ``rally.''
PROBE QUESTIONED
Although both Smith and Lewis discounted that the letter was politically motivated, some in the audience did not. They wondered if similar letters were sent to any church that hosted President Bush."

Dobson may be psycho, but he's pretty smart. He stepped down a while back as the official leader of FOTF. Sheesh, they've got more lawyers there than there are in Congress. The good news is people are really starting to notice how wacko he is - the SpongeBob fiasco really pushed it over the edge. Now he's preaching to his own wigged-out choir.
