Dobson Ain't Gonna Like This

Poor James Dobson. He and his friends have been free to spew their bitter bile for years now with very little push back from reasonable religious and political leaders. They've succeeded in having Colorado Springs being seen as one of the most hostile places in the country for gays, though even now it seems that wasn't quite enough. Not to mention their reactionary fundamentalist rhetoric, with just a tinge of fascism, that reminds one of Iran more than America. (Oops, I just mentioned it.)

Their blatant jump into partisan politics, similar to last year's interference in the presidential election by the Catholic Church, is just one more tactic in a larger war to inflict religion on all of us, and calls into question whether these organizations and churches should retain their tax exempt status.

But now people are starting to fight back. First Senator Ken Salazar, and now Colbert King, longtime columnist on the pages of the Washington Post, have accused them of hijacking Christianity, thus:

"They are not now and never will be the final arbiters of Christian beliefs and values. They warrant as much deference as religious leaders as do members of the Ku Klux Klan, who also marched under the cross." (my emphasis)

Take that, Dobson.

Now, let Dobson speak freely, attack the judges and flout the constitution. And we will tax those organizations as political entities so we can pay off George Bush's humongous deficit and attempt to fix his terrible fiscal policies. Sound fair?
